BEST $10 I EVER SPENT

I was going to do this article on other products but those can be found anytime, any day. I consider this as an emergency! Today I went to Walgreens to stock up on my "Yes" products, but they did not have the one's I was looking for.
I browsed and found the clearance section ( I'm not sure every store has one, but don't forget to look!)
I purchased a Lumene BB cream for $5 ( retail $15) and Lumene Vitamin C capsules for $5
(retail $14-$20) from the clearance section.
Normally products show up on clearance b/c the company is discontinuing the item or changing the packaging. Actually the first time I tried Lumene products I bought them on clearance and they work great! Every person I suggest them to is in love with them!

$1 *GEM* 5/30/13

I couldn't help myself when I bought this item. I was on a high after getting such great deals that as I walked by a $1 store I was intrigued...what kind of deals are there to be had inside?!
I found the tiny makeup rack and picked a couple things to try.
I purchase a gold loose eyeshadow by Jordana and wore it to a concert 2 days ago.
I love that the shadow is highly pigmented, however it does not last all day so I would recommend using a primer if wearing more than 8 hours.
I didn't experience any irritation from this product.

DON'T COUNT OUT THOSE DISCOUNT STORES!!

Below are pics of the package, the look I created and a detail of my eye.

BEAUTY NEWS!! 5/26-6/1

HI EVERYONE!!
So this week is a little late, but I'm still playing catch up from the past week.

Let's start with Beauty sales.

Sephora is offering a free sample of BB cream with $25 online purchase.
You may be asking yourself "Can I get MORE than 1 thing from Sephora for $25?" OF COURSE!
Here are some of the things I have heard wonderful things about, but don't own yet...buuuut since they are so inexpensive, I get a free bb cream sample AND 3 additional samples, now might be the time to buy them.

Lorac Tantalizing Bronzer $7
Caudalie Divine Oil $9- I have a sample of this. It's a new "miracle" oil for hair and skin. I have yet to try it, but I will after I finish my current product I am reviewing.
Kat Von D Autograph pencil $10- Personally I am not a fan of hers, but I have heard WONDERFUL things about her makeup. Her price point is reasonable so I guess I could put my personal feelings aside for GOOD makeup.
TARTE Golden Opportunity Tarte on the go Kit- $10 ($19 value)

You can look at all the products Sephora has for $15 and under here.

Ulta
Bare Minerals eye shadows BOGO 2 get 1 free
Ulta products BOGO 2 get 2 free
Nyx products BOGO 50%

Rite Aid
BOGO 50%- Revlon, L'Oreal, Olay, Covergirl, Almay, and all trial sized products.

Walgreens
BOGO 50%- Maybelline, Covergirl, Revlon, Almay, L'Oreal, and "Yes" products.
note: Since I heard AMAZING things about "Yes" products I'll be stocking up and reviewing them for you later.

CVS
BOGO 50%- Maybelline, Aveeno and  Lumene products.

So today I stumbled across a new beauty company "Two Cosmetics"
I read about this company on their Facebook page and visited the website. Why am I highlighting them today? Well I saw on their FB that every time you purchase a product they donate 1 to charity. How awesome is that? Plus their price point is incredibly reasonable! All products are on sale for $6.50! And you bet I'll be purchasing products and telling you all about them...today seems like a good day to start!
You can check out their FB page- http://www.facebook.com/twocosmetics/info
('like' them too!)

REVIEW: Ulta " Gorgeous on the Go" 61 piece kit

This review has been a long time coming! I'm kind of glad it's over. Not because it was hard or boring, but because I could only use the products in the kit and couldn't experiment with anything else. I try to test as many things as I can at once, but this kit contains almost everything you need to be
Gorgeous on the Go!

The kit contains:
8-blushes
40-eyeshadows
3-lip glosses
3-small shadow applicators
1-eyeshadow brush
1-blush brush
1-sponge applicator
2- double sided eyeliner pencils (4 colors total)
1- wallet holder ( holds 1 palette, 1 lipgloss and all brushes)

Total Value: $175. Actual price $24.99
I got it on sale for $20 PLUS I used a $3.50 coupon!

I will review each group of items separately.

Blushes- It's really nice to have a variety of 8 blushes. But since I'm a medium, toffee shade with red undertones some of the colors did not show up on my skin.

My favorite shades were 'heartbreaker', 'flush' and 'exposed'. They are dark enough to show up on my skin and compliment my skin tone nicely.
All the blushes that have a bit of shimmer and do double duty as highlighters and maybe even eyeshadow. These blushes are soft, long lasting and not powdery.
My only suggestion would be to incorporate a peachy color into one of the palettes. All the colors are pink based.

Brushes-OK these brushes are terrible! I HOPE all Ulta brushes aren't like this and they only put these cheaply made ones into the kit to keep the cost down.
1. they are hard and plastic like. I used a softening process, but it only helped a little it. At the end of my experiment these brushes looked very worn out.
2. they are hard-these brushes ruin the shadows and blushes. They scratch the pressed powder and all this loose residue is just lying on top of the makeup. At first I though it was the makeup itself that was powdery but the brush is scratching the makeup and creating a mess. I tried other brushes and no loose residue.
3. they hold onto makeup-these brushes are hard to clean. I had to wash them every 3 days and I sprayed them with brush cleaner daily. If I didn't do this the colors would get all muddy on the brush, your face and the palette. The sponge eyeshadow applicators are good though.

Lipglosses- I like the variety, even though it's only 3 colors. They are 3 different pinks, 2 have sparkles but they sparkles don't show up. They are not 'super shiny' as the label indicates, but it's just enough shine. This lipgloss is not greasy or sticky. It's slightly tinted so you can wear it alone ( I wore it by itself most days) and it blends perfectly with lipstick. Even if you have a lipstick that you think is too bright, applying a coat of  'flirtini' or even 'sweet' will tone down the color.

Eyeliners-The eyeliners come in 4 colors on 2 double ended pencils, black & brown, and purple & teal. The eyeliners are soft, pigmented and have great staying power! The choice of colors was nice and the purple & teal are fashion forward, but I would have liked a light green & light pink instead. Since, I was going for normal daytime looks, I didn't have much choice in eyeliner besides the brown or a light application of black. With the 'golden glow', 'fresh' and 'natural light' palettes I would have liked to have other options and a green or pink liner would have added that little bit extra.
eyeliner swatches in order- brown, black, teal, purple

Eyeshadows- I love the variety of colors and the way the colors are grouped in each of their separate palettes. Each palette comes with 6 colors that can be worn all different types of ways. I actually can't pick a fave palette. In 'golden glow' they have a few colors that are the same tone so there aren't a lot of possibilities to be had there.
Most of the shadows are pigmented and soft, but not flimsy or powdery. Some of the very light colors 'sahara sun', 'iceland' and 'ice queen' are hard, so applying them with a sponge tipped applicator is necessary.

Overall- I liked this kit! On a scale from 1-10 I would give it a 7/8.  Minus 1 point for the brushes, minus 1 point for the blush colors and maybe minus 1 for the liners.
( these last 2 minus' being personal preference)
I like they way the eyeshadows were arranged with the blushes. The dramatic eye colors are paired with very subtle blushes.  This kit does not come with mascara, but most days I didn't wear any because I didn't need it.
This is a great beginner set or even great for someone looking to try new styles. You can be very creative with this set and probably have a different look everyday for a year...or more.

Please let me know if you would like additional swatches of the mini palettes! I will gladly make some!

On to The Makeup Show...
This was my first show, so of course I had dreams of grandeur about what I was going to accomplish. I mapped the companies I HAD to go to and the seminars I HAD to attend. Those things didn't go as planned. For the seminars, I would have had to be seated at least an hour before the seminar started, which meant sitting through a seminar I didn't really want to see. So I got to see 0 seminars :(
The deals were great though. Of course being a 'pro only' event, pro discounts and above pro discounts were available. I did pretty well and even got to talk with one of the founders of MAKE cosmetics. They are a very young (new) cosmetics company, less than a year old. As I was told, they are the "hipster version of NARS." They also donate a potion of their proceeds to charity. I fell in love with the website and the story, so I'll be looking for more on this brand.
Crown brushes was there, but since the table was so crowded I didn't spend much time there. I saw a set I liked, but I do not like to pay for brushes I won't use and never got a chance to check out the individuals. Plus I like synthetic brushes, b/c they can be easily sanitized and Crown does not offer a lot of fully synthetic brushes. I found another brush company, Bdellium Tools. all these brushes are synthetic, or synthetic mixed. They are usually vegan and cruelty free. I bought 3 basic brushes from their new antibacterial line. YES! I said it, ANTIBACTERIAL makeup brushes!!! Can't wait to try it.
I am positive these brushes will make it to the blog based on the physical properties, feel and price alone.
I bought lots of other things that I am more than excited to try, but I can't tell you all my secrets now or why else would you come back every week to keep reading? I just wish they gave out more free samples.
For the next years show I know I need to:
1. bring a friend
2. bring a bigger bag
3. make sure I don't have any debit card fraud issues 5 days before the show.
4. be on line to get into the show at least 30 minutes before the doors open.
5. if there is a product you really want from a company that's VERY popular ( Inglot, MAC, Crown, NARS, Make Up Forever) make a list beforehand. Chances are I won't get to see them up close and will waste a lot of time on line and in the crowd and won't get anything.
